The 2008 Nashville Predators are back at Sommet Center. Sommet Center (formerly Nashville Arena and Gaylord Entertainment Center and pronounced soh-MAY') is an all-purpose facility in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The Center has been hosting world-class sporting events and musical performances since its opening in 1996. The home of the NHL's Nashville Predators, the venue also hosts a multitude of concerts, special events and conventions. The arena is equipped with a soundstage-quality rehearsal facility, meeting areas, lounges and good sightlines for most events. Sommet Center has a seating capacity of 17,113 for ice hockey, approximately 20,000 for basketball, 10,000 for half-house concerts, 18,500 for end-stage concerts and 20,000 for center-stage concerts. Seating is arranged as Applebees Family Fu, Balcony Goal Zone, Sideline Balcony, 2X Mezzanine, Shoot Once Club, Sprint Club, All Inclusive Zone, Lower Bowl Endzone, Lower Bowl Center, Premium Lower Bowl, Premium 2X Lower Bowl, Second Row First Row, and Suites. The south-end seating features two large round roof support columns, no mid-level seating, and only one level of suites, which brings the upper level seats much closer to the floor. Seating for the disabled is available on every level. Typical arena food all around, served up fresh and fast. A generous sprinkling of concession stands dots the venue too.
