The 2009 Dallas Stars are back at American Airlines Center. The American Airlines Center is an arena located in the Victory Park neighborhood near downtown Dallas, Texas that is used for hockey games, basketball games, football games and concerts. The facility which is home to Dallas Stars (NHL), Dallas Mavericks (NBA), and Dallas Desperados (Arena Football League) was built to replace the dated Reunion Arena. On July 27, 2001, the facility opened with the largest ribbon cutting ceremony ever, according to the Guinness Book of Records. It can seat 18,532 for a hockey configuration and up to 20,000-21,041 for basketball. The facility itself features a conservative, traditional design with sweeping brick facades and smooth arches, and has been graced with a number of awards. The interior includes retractable seating, public art and a state-of-the-art technological arena. Because of the Quonset hut-like appearance of its roof and the fact that American Airlines holds the naming rights some fans have come to refer to it as "The Hangar." Others just call it the AAC. Seating is tagged as East Terrace, North Terrace, Terrace, Priority Terrace, Premium Terrace, Platinum, South Plaza, Celebrity, Starsclub Luxury, Starsclub Premium, Starsclub Preferred, Lower Suites, Club Suites, and Upper Suites. Each of American Airlines Center's concourses is highly finished with terrazzo floors, windows, crown molding and painted walls. Avoiding the typical "racetrack" configuration, the venue has five concourses full of wide, open space. The building's four lobbies are points of references each with its own theme. The American Airlines Lobby looks over the public plaza and has spectacular views of the downtown skyline, the North Lobby looks toward the Design District, the East Lobby looks to the Crescent complex, and the West Lobby view stretches over Stemmons Freeway to the Trinity River.
