The 2009 Chicago Blackhawks are back at United Center. The United Center is Chicago's sports and entertainment arena, named after its corporate sponsor, United Airlines. It was built in 1992 at a cost of $175 million to replace the old arena that was demolished shortly after. The United Center is best known as the home of both the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) and the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and serves as a venue for large concerts and events such as the circus or ice shows. It seats 20,500 (not including standing room) for hockey, 22,220 for basketball and up to 23,500 for concerts. Seating is classified as Lower, Club, upper and Suite. Lower Level seating, also referred to as the 100 Level, includes Rows 1-19. Club Level seating, also referred to as the 200 Level, includes Rows 1-8. Upper Level seating, also referred to as the 300 Level, includes Rows 1-17. Suite tickets are specified as Level I, II or III. The facility's terrific sight lines and comfortable accommodations make it the world's premier arena for sports, concert, or special event spectators. A huge 12-foot bronze statue of Michael Jordan leaping through the air to make a dunk is located on the east side of the arena. Now a popular tourist attraction, this statue was made to commemorate M.J., whose basketball fame made it possible to finance the new arena. . Though many feel United Center lacks the charm of the old Chicago Stadium, it has all the amenities to make it a sports and entertainment complex for the 21st century. Some luxuries of the new center are plentiful parking spaces and clean restrooms. Concession of food is run by Bismarck Enterprises, an entity of the Wirtz family. The United Center hosts over 200 events per year and has drawn over 20 million visitors since its opening in 1994.
